Egypt asserts importance of encouraging African investments to promote economic integration

CAIRO - 11 November 2019: Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Abubakr Hefny asserted on Sunday the importance of encouraging investment by African businessmen in Egypt to contribute to the promotion of economic integration between the various countries of the continent.

This came during Hefny’s participation as a representative of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in the 18th meeting of the African Foreign Ministers held in the Tanzanian city of Dar es-Salaam.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry,Hefny highlighted the role Egypt plays to achieve peace and security in Africa, especially within the framework of the current Egyptian presidency of the African Union and Egypt's hosting of the African Union Center for Reconstruction and Development.

Hefny also reviewed Egypt's efforts to encourage African countries to sign and ratify the continental Free Trade Agreement, which provides tremendous opportunities to promote intra-African trade.

Tanzanian President John Majofoli, as well as the delegations of 25 African and fourNordic countries attended the opening session of the meeting.

The meeting included two main sessions devoted to discussing the efforts of the participating countries in the field of peace and security.
