CAIRO – 3 March 2025: Egypt condemned the decision of the Israeli government to halt the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and to close the crossings used for humanitarian relief efforts on Sunday

In a statement released by Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cairo affirmed that these measures constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, international humanitarian law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and all religious principles.

The statement emphasized that no justification, circumstance, or rationale permits the use of starvation and siege against innocent civilians, especially during the month of Ramadan, as a weapon against the Palestinian people.

Additionally, Egypt called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in stopping all illegal and inhumane practices that target civilians and to condemn attempts to achieve political objectives by endangering the lives of innocent people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that aid entering Gaza will cease immediately as the first phase of the Israeli-Hamas ceasefire agreement expired at midnight on Saturday.

Furthermore, Tel Aviv has approved a temporary extension of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas in Gaza for additional six weeks, coinciding with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and Jewish Pesach holiday.
