Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty participated on Friday in the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Cultural Dialogue
The memorandum aims to strengthen cultural and intellectual cooperation and promote tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of others.
The ceremony was attended by Miguel Ángel Moratinos, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, as well as the UN Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia.
The memorandum aims to strengthen cultural and intellectual cooperation and promote tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of others. It also seeks to counter hate speech, extremism and racism, while advancing dialogue among cultures and religions and protecting cultural diversity.
The agreement includes plans to organize joint cultural and training programs, empower young people, women and civil society, and expand partnerships with national and international institutions and the private sector.
It also places a focus on using technology and artificial intelligence to support intercultural dialogue and promote the values of peace and mutual understanding.
The memorandum reflects Egypt’s support for international efforts to strengthen dialogue and understanding among peoples and civilizations, while promoting tolerance, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
It is also intended to contribute to countering hate speech and fostering more inclusive and peaceful societies.
