CAIRO – 16 August 2020: Egypt invests about LE 86 billion in railways to develop them to provide better service to citizens, Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Sunday.
“Electricity is the future of transportation in the world,” he stated during the inauguration of Adly Mansour station, in the presence of President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi.
He added that Egypt is no longer the highest in road accidents thanks to the national projects that occurred within 6 years, after President El-Sisi directed the government to accelerate the implementation of the comprehensive plan for all transport sectors, to serve as the arteries of sustainable development for the entire Egyptian state.
Madbouli stated that there is a large project to develop all Egyptian airports and add a number of new airports whose investments exceed LE 50 billion.
He added that the state is trying to modernize the civil aviation system in Egypt, and we have established 4 new airports in the new administrative capital in Sphinx, Bardawil and Bernice.
"We are rehabilitating and developing the passenger buildings at Cairo Airport, and we are working on establishing a new passenger building at Hurghada Airport at a cost of EGP 2.1 billion. We are also developing air corridors at Cairo Airport and we are working on establishing the National Center for Egyptian Airspace Management,” he noted.
Madbouli stated earlier at his speech that total investments in the transport sector which are being implemented are close to LE 1 trillion [about LE 950 billion].
He noted Sunday that the government has spent about LE 442 billion on the projects, adding that projects worth 520 billion pounds will be implemented in the coming years.
