Egyptian Suez Canal Authority Head and Korean Ambassador Examine Green Transformation Collaboration Opportunities

Egyptian Chairperson of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Admiral Osama Rabie met with Korean Ambassador to Egypt Kim Yong-Hyun to discuss ways of cooperation in green transition projects, according to a statement issued by the SCA on Sunday.



Rabie expressed his aspiration to complete constructive cooperation between the Suez Canal Authority and South Korean institutions and companies operating in the maritime field, especially in areas related to green transformation, the statement added.



Rabie continued that the SCA started going forward to green transformation by using clean energy in operating the control rooms along the canal, and strengthening the capabilities of the Authority's fleet to combat the oil spill. He added that the canal tries to adopt initiatives to convert its marine units to operate with green fuel.



For his part, South Korean Ambassador expressed his happiness for visiting the Suez Canal within the framework of the extended partnership and friendship, highlighted the strategic importance of the canal in the maritime navigation world and the pivotal and sustainable corridor it represents for South Korean trade.



The Ambassador explained that the percentage of South Korea's foreign trade exceeds 70%, which makes the Suez Canal a major gateway to South Korean trade, praising the huge development works to develop the canal's navigational course.



In the end of their meeting, Rabie gifted the Korean ambassador a souvenir before making a tour of the Suze Canal projects.
