CAIRO – 29 June 2025: Egypt welcomed the signing of a US-mediated peace agreement by the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Rwanda.
The deal was officially signed in Washington Friday, as a step toward resolving the crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Egypt praised the agreement as an important step toward achieving peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
Egypt called for the full implementation of the agreement to ensure the sustainability of peace and stability in the region, said the statement.
Egypt also reiterated its steadfast support for all regional and international efforts aimed at resolving conflicts in Africa through peaceful means, it added.
Furthermore, Egypt expressed its readiness to contribute to any African or international effort that would help implement the peace agreement, according to the note.
