Egypt's Sisi orders gov't to depend on local components in implementing ‘Haya Karima’ projects Thu, Jul. 28, 2022
CAIRO- 28 July 2022: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday directed the government to depend on local components as much as possible in implementing projects of the Decent Life Presidential Initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside; given the current damage caused to global supply chains.

The president noted that such a step would strengthen opportunities for localizing industry and depending on domestic technology; in partnership and cooperation with investors and the private sector, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

This came during President Sisi’s meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talat, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el Gazzar, along with Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Hisham el Sweify.

During the meeting, President Sisi followed up the steps taken to implement the first phase of the Decent Life Initiative, which covers nearly 18 million citizens living in 1,477 villages.

The meeting also touched on the impact of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine crisis on supply chains of raw materials and industrial components
