Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of the US business community in strengthening the economic partnership between Egypt and the United States and increasing American investment in the Egyptian market.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a working dinner with the American Chamber of Commerce in New York, held on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, with representatives of major US companies in attendance.
The foreign minister underscored the strategic importance of Egypt-US relations and the need to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation in a way that reflects the depth of bilateral ties and serves the interests of both countries.
Abdelatty outlined steps taken by the Egyptian government to improve the investment climate and facilitate procedures for investors, alongside continued economic reform efforts and the restructuring of the state’s role in the economy.
He said these measures were aimed at creating greater space for the private sector and strengthening its contribution to economic growth and job creation.
The minister also highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages and investment opportunities, pointing to its strategic location, access to regional and international markets and extensive infrastructure development.
Abdelatty called on US companies to increase their investments in Egypt, particularly in telecommunications and information technology, digitalization, healthcare, energy and other priority sectors.
The meeting also addressed regional developments and their impact on the global economy, supply chains, energy markets and commodity markets. Abdelatty stressed the need to resolve regional crises through political and diplomatic means to help end cycles of escalation and instability.
He also outlined Egypt’s position on the Palestinian cause, including support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as an end to settlement activity and the occupation.
