Egypt, UNICEF discuss joint action plan

CAIRO - 16 February 2020: Egypt's Social Solidarity Minister Niveen el Qabbag has met UNICEF representative in Egypt Bruno Maes to discuss 2020/2021 joint action plan between the ministry and the organization, emphasizing the necessity to bolster cooperation with the UNICEF to promote the services of children protection and care sectors.

Both sides mulled cooperation on a number of issues, including positive parenting education, social and economic development in North Sinai, refugees, human-trafficking combat and social care and protection.

Qabbag highlighted the important role of the ministry on positive parenting education, noting that the ministry is currently making restructuring for social protection and care sectors and working on building capacities for NGOs after enacting a law on that score.

Both sides agreed on organizing visits to centers of human trafficking victims and workshops on social protection.

Maes praised the fruitful meeting that aimed to define fields of potential partnerships between the ministry and UNICEF
