CAIRO – 12 March 2025: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed Egypt’s commitment to offering necessary aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in a meeting with a delegation of humanitarian workers on Tuesday.
The meeting involved President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Kate Forbes and her accompanying delegation, in addition to Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsi and a host of respective officials.
During the meeting, Madbouly condemned Israeli practices that prevent the delivery of critically-needed aid into the Palestinian enclave, particularly during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
He lauded the good partnership between Egypt and the IFRC to offer aid, reaffirming that Egypt will remain committed to providing Gazans with urgent relief aid.
Egypt is also keen to cooperate with the IFRC to carry out Gaza reconstruction plan, which was recently adopted by the Cairo-hosted Arab summit, he said.
Egypt managed to deliver more than 7,000 aid trucks into the enclave since the enforcement of the ceasefire deal between Jan. 19 and March 2 and contributed to sending over 70% of aid since the eruption of the Gaza crisis in October, 2023, the premier said.
He also shed light on Egypt's efforts on hosting Sudanese refugees and providing them with decent living conditions.
For her part, Forbes lauded Egypt's great efforts on delivering aid into Gaza, voicing the federation's keenness to promote cooperation with Egypt on this score.
The IFRC is the world’s largest humanitarian network, which supports local Red Cross and Red Crescent action in more than 191 countries, bringing together more than 16 million volunteers for the good of humanity.
