The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has issued issue (49) of the "Memory of Egypt" magazine, on the occasion of the centenary of the discovery of the tomb of the golden pharaoh "Tutankhamun", and the two hundred years since the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone.
Dr. Ahmed Zayed noted; The Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in the opening issue of the issue, stated that the discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamun one hundred years ago was an important event that affected the cultural and archaeological circles all over the world. He added: Deciphering the Rosetta Stone two hundred years ago allowed us to explore the depths of the ancient Egyptian civilization, and we were able to read ancient Egyptian texts according to a correct methodology. He concluded by saying: "The history of Egypt is replete with many treasures and secrets, some of which we have known, but history still misleads us about others. In its subsoil are civilizations and cultures, and on its surface are evidence of history and the achievements of the present.
The issue included a special file containing articles by a number of senior specialists in the history of ancient Egypt, and pictures published for the first time about the discovery of the tomb of the Golden Pharaoh on November 4, 1922 AD. Dr. Hussein Abdel Baseer addressed the family of Tutankhamun, and Ambassador Muhammad Al-Shazly talked about the historical circumstances and circumstances and the political competition that surrounded the discovery of the tomb of the Young Pharaoh. Dr. Hind El-Sherbiny discussed the destruction of the monuments of Tutankhamun, and Ahmed Abdel-Fattah reviewed the food and drink of the young pharaoh who was found in his tomb. The special file also included an article by Dr. Ramy Atta, in which he dealt with the press coverage of the discovery of the tomb of the Golden Pharaoh, and Sami Helmy reviewed the cinematic works that dealt with Tutankhamun.
In addition, the issue included two articles on the occasion of the two-hundredth anniversary of the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone, one on "Champollion in Egyptian Memory" by Dr. Ahmed Mansour, and the second entitled "Ptolemy and Cleopatra at Champollion's Table" by Dr. Azza Ezzat.
It is noteworthy that the Memory of Egypt magazine is issued every three months, and is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and Dr. Sameh Fawzy is the editor-in-chief, and researcher Iman Al-Khatib is the editorial secretariat, and it is distributed in the outlets of the Library of Alexandria, as well as with newspaper sellers through the Akhbar Al-Youm Foundation.
