President Sisi stresses importance of launching inclusive political process in Syria

CAIRO – 5 March 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with his Syrian counterpart Ahmed Al Sharaa on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit held on Tuesday in the New Administrative Capital.

During the meeting, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s keenness to support the Syrian people, help achieve their aspirations, and take into account their will and choices to achieve stability and development, noting the importance of launching a comprehensive political process that includes all components of the Syrian people.

The official spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, revealed that the President emphasized Egypt's keenness on the unity and integrity of Syrian lands, stressing Egypt's rejection of any encroachment on Syrian lands.

For his part, the Syrian President expressed his keenness to start a new page of brotherly relations with Arab countries, especially Egypt, indicating his desire to work together with Egypt to achieve the interests of the two countries and the Arab nation, and appreciating Egypt's efforts in supporting the unity and integrity of Arab lands and restoring regional stability.

President Sisi chaired on Tuesday the Extraordinary Arab Summit, held upon the request of Palestine in the New Administrative Capital to discuss developments of the Palestinian issue and means to support the Palestinian people.

He thanked the Arab Leaders participating in the Extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo.

“I appreciate the consensus among the Arab countries to support the reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, which allows the Palestinian People to stay on their land without displacement,” Sisi said.

“We welcome any proposals or ideas from the international community to ensure the success of this plan, which needs to be implemented side by side with a greater plan for peace. I look forward to working with our Arab brothers, President Trump and the international community to adopt a plan that aims for a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian Issue, ends the root causes of the Israeli Palestinian conflict, guarantees the security and stability of the peoples of the region and establishes the Palestinian State,” President Sisi added.
