Egyptian, Lebanese Presidents call for full, immediate Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon

CAIRO – 5 March 2025: The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Lebanese counterpart, Joseph Aoun stressed the necessity of the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon as they met in Cairo on Tuesday.

The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab summit held in the New Administrative Capital, affirmed Cairo and Beirut aspirations to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering and steadfast support for Lebanon and for Aoun's efforts to achieve stability and security for the Lebanese people, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

Moreover, he emphasized Egypt's support for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and for United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, stressing that Egyptian companies are prepared to engage effectively and efficiently in the development and reconstruction processes in Lebanon.

He also expressed Egypt's readiness to provide all possible support to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of Lebanese state institutions.

Aoun valued the strong fraternal relations between Egypt and Lebanon and the ongoing Egyptian support for Lebanon and its people.
