Hor-Wega-n-Thaw sarcophagus: A unique artifact made of black granite

This black granite sarcophagus belonged to a prince “Hor-Wega-n-Thaw” from the Late Period who occupied various administrative offices in the royal court and retained the title of chief priest.

Owing homage to his high status, the sarcophagus’ lid is carved with spells meant to protect the deceased through his journey to the afterlife.

On the sides of the sarcophagus, you can also spot various important deities such as Osiris, Isis and Nepthys.
