'Lucia di Lammermoor' to be screened live at Cairo Opera House on May 21

On May 21 at 7 pm, the Cairo Opera House's Small Theater will host a live broadcast from the American Metropolitan Opera, featuring the opera "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Italian musician Gaetano Donizetti.









Lucia di Lammermoor opera is inspired by Sir Walter Scott’s 1819 novel “The Bride of Lammermoor”. It tells the tragic love story of a young woman, Lucy Ashton [Lucia], and her family's enemy, Edgardo Ravenswood. It depicts the feelings of despair experienced by Lucy as she was forced to marry another person, which leads her to madness and death.









It is noteworthy that the live broadcast of the American Metropolitan Opera’s performances is carried out via a high-quality technology, featuring a special stereo sound and a huge screen.
