CAIRO- 5 December 2021: About seven million children, aged between 12 and 18, are eligible for registration to receive COVID-19 vaccination in Egypt, according to the Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.
Egypt has opened the registration window to the children on Tuesday, November 30, provided that parents of those who are aged 12-15 shall provide approvals of vaccinating his children.
In special remarks to Youm7, Abdel-Ghaffar said that those children will be given with Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, adding that the Ministry targets vaccinating 7.932 million students.
He said that the Ministry would start vaccinating old citizens, patients with chronic diseases, and medical staff with a booster jab in the coming few days.
The Health Ministry said on Friday night that 933 new coronavirus cases were detected in Egypt over the past 24 hours, upping the total number of infections to 361,368.
Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 49 patients died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 20,643.
As many as 569 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 299,434, it added.
