CAIRO - 27 May 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi discussed on Sunday with Minister of Health Hala Zayed and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat cooperation with African states in the health field.
In this regard, Sisi ordered intensifying efforts aimed to transfer Egypt's health and medical expertise to other African countries, according to a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
Briefing the president on the latest developments of a presidential initiative to provide Hepatitis C treatment for one million Africans, Zayed shed light on the recent visits paid to Sudan, Chad, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Eritrea to coordinate this initiative.
Radi's statement added that the Health Minister also briefed the president on the Health Ministry’s planned visits to Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania to assess their medical needs.
Some African countries have been given medical supplies and medicine, such as Sudan, Djibouti, and Eritrea, Zayed said, adding that the Health Ministry plans to invite African medical teams to take part in training programs in different medical specialties in Egypt.
In April, the Ministry of Health issued an statement reported that the ministry started setting up four medical care centers in Africa starting with Chad.
the project comes in implementation of an initiative by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for treating one million African nationals from virus C.
She noted that African nationals living in Egypt will also be treated as part of the initiative, the statement reported.
Earlier April, Spokesperson for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed told Egypt Today that the Health Ministry is establishing 13 centers to treat African people from Hepatitis C (HCV).
Megahed also added that more than 45 Million citizens have been detected so far as part of "100 Million Seha" campaign.
