CAIRO – 5 October 2021: Egypt's Al Azhar Grand Imam Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayyeb and Catholic Pope Francis reviewed at the Vatican on Monday the efforts to spread the principles of the Human Fraternity Document worldwide, according to the Grand Imam's office.

Following their participation in the 'Faith and Science: Towards COP26' summit alongside other world faith leaders, El-Tayyeb and Pope Francis discussed the initiatives resulting from the Human Fraternity Document, which was released in 2019 with the aim of reinforcing the principle of coexistence.

The two faith leaders also discussed the latest religious, humanitarian and moral issues and challenges facing the world, as well as the role of religious scholars and faith leaders in reducing tension and division in addition to fighting radicalism.

The Vatican hosted a meeting on climate change on Monday in cooperation with the British and Italian embassies at the Vatican.

Faith leaders and scientists from around the globe signed a joint appeal to take a united stand to protect the environment ahead of the upcoming UN COP26 Climate Conference on 1-12 November in Glasgow, Scotland.
