CAIRO – 26 February 2025: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed on Tuesday his sincere wishes for Pope Francis, the Pope of the Vatican, for a swift and full recovery after the health setback he has faced.
“I extend my heartfelt wishes for the prompt and complete recovery of His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pope of the Vatican, following the health setback he has experienced. I beseech God Almighty to grant him healing, health, and well-being, and to enable him to return safely to the millions of his followers, so that he may continue his noble mission in fostering the values of love, peace, and tolerance among nations”, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattal El Sisi wrote on social media accounts.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Pope Francis was in critical condition following a prolonged asthmatic respiratory crisis linked to pneumonia and a complex lung infection
The 88-year-old pope received “high flows” of oxygen to help him breathe, it was announced on Saturday. He also received blood transfusions after tests showed low counts of platelets, which are needed for clotting, the Vatican said in a late update.
Doctors also said his health remained touch and go and he was expected to remain in hospital for at least another week.
