Egypt's president heads to first destination in overseas tour, Guinea

CAIRO - 7 April 2019: Egypt's President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi began on Sunday, April 7, an overseas tour with the first leg in Guinea, and the next stops will be in the United States, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal.

Sisi's tour to the western African region comes as part of Egypt's keenness on intensifying contacts with African brothers in all domains, especially trade and economic ones, Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi stated.

Sisi is scheduled to hold talks with leaders of the three African countries on boosting bilateral relations and pushing forward development process in the African continent.

Sisi’s visit to Washington comes upon Trump’s invitation to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern, according to a statement of the Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Radi on Friday.

The White House declared in a statement that the meeting comes in light of the continuing cooperation between both countries on economic, military and counter-terrorism levels.
