CAIRO – 24 January 2026: Marking the 74th anniversary of Egyptian Police Day on Saturday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized that the police institution belongs to the state, describing it as a national body whose personnel are Egyptians committed to protecting the country.

“These strong security measures are for our country alone. They are meant to safeguard our people and our resources, not anyone else, and not me. I swear to Allah, not me,” the President said.

The President made these comments after observing a large-scale police parade during the 74th anniversary of Police Day, highlighting the advanced capabilities of the Ministry of Interior and its integrated security system, and emphasizing that the security of Egypt is a “sacred duty.”

Egyptian Police Day is a significant national anniversary commemorating the Battle of Ismailia in 1952, during which police officers demonstrated remarkable courage in confronting British occupation forces, setting a lasting example of sacrifice and dedication in defense of national dignity and sovereignty. The occasion has since come to symbolize bravery, loyalty, and patriotism.

Each year, the state marks this anniversary in recognition of the sacrifices made by police officers and their vital national role in protecting state resources, addressing various challenges, and continuing their efforts to safeguard citizens and ensure societal stability.
