CAIRO – 27 January 2026: Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development Kamel El-Wazir held talks on Tuesday with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma on localization and logistics.

The high-level discussions centered on translating the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations into concrete industrial and investment gains.

A Focus on Localization and Logistics

At the heart of the discussions was Egypt's ambitious plan to become a regional manufacturing hub. Minister El-Wazir highlighted several key sectors where Egypt is seeking to deepen cooperation with American firms:

• Industrial Localization: Prioritizing the domestic manufacture of high-demand goods to reduce imports.

• Green Energy: Expanding ventures in renewable energy and sustainable industrial practices.

• Transportation Infrastructure: Leveraging U.S. expertise to modernize Egypt's burgeoning rail and logistics networks.

El-Wazir emphasized that the Egyptian government is committed to providing a "pro-business" environment, offering various incentives for American investors looking to tap into the Middle Eastern and African markets through Egypt.

Deputy Secretary Verma reaffirmed the United States' view of Egypt as a cornerstone of regional stability and economic potential. The talks touched upon the importance of the U.S.-Egypt Strategic Dialogue as a platform to streamline private sector involvement.

Verma noted that American companies are increasingly looking at Egypt’s New Administrative Capital and its various specialized industrial zones as attractive destinations for foreign direct investment (FDI).
