CAIRO – 10 February 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty began his visit to Washington Sunday by meeting Senator Chris Van Hollen, member of the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, and the Appropriations Subcommittee for State, Foreign Relations and Related Programs.
During the meeting, the two sides tackled means of strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States. In that context, Minister Abdelatty presented the strenuous efforts deployed by Egypt to support security and stability in the Middle East, pointing out that the collaboration between the two countries constitutes a pillar of those endeavors.
Moreover, the two sides exchanged views on the updates of the Palestinian Cause. In that respect, Minister Abdelatty displayed the measures taken by Egypt to guarantee the implementation of the three phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, and the intensive and accelerated supply of humanitarian aid.
The minister underscored the importance of launching an early restoration process which includes rubble removal and reconstruction according to a precise timeline without the displacement of Palestinian residents. Similarly, he highlighted the Arab consensus on the rejection of Palestinians displacement, noting the necessity of creating a political horizon for establishing an independent state.
