CAIRO – 14 April 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, emphasized the growing partnership between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, particularly in trade and agriculture, during his participation in the Egyptian-Saudi Business Council Forum
Farouk revealed that more than 800 Saudi companies are currently operating in Egypt, with total investments reaching approximately $34 billion. On the other hand, over 6,830 Egyptian companies are active in the Saudi market, investing close to $5 billion.
Trade relations between the two countries remain robust. In 2023, bilateral trade volume reached nearly $13 billion. Of this, Egyptian exports to the Kingdom accounted for $5.3 billion, while imports from Saudi Arabia totaled around $7.5 billion. Egypt is now Saudi Arabia’s seventh-largest trading partner, while Saudi Arabia holds the position of Egypt’s third-largest partner.
The agricultural sector has also seen growing collaboration, with over 13 major Saudi firms investing in Egypt’s agri-business landscape—including livestock and poultry production, dairy processing, animal feed, and veterinary medicine.
Farouk further noted that Saudi Arabia ranks among the top Arab importers of Egyptian agricultural goods. In 2024 alone, around 9% of Egypt’s total global agricultural exports were destined for the Kingdom, underlining the strength of their trade relationship.
