CAIRO - 16 September 2025: U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Hiro Mustafa Garg, is currently leading a U.S. trade delegation on a week-long visit to several Egyptian ports. According to a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo Monday, the delegation's visit aims to explore opportunities with Egyptian partners in developing world-class ports.

Representatives of leading U.S. companies will participate alongside the ambassador in visiting the ports of Alexandria, Damietta, Port Said, and Ain Sokhna.

These visits aim to strengthen economic ties between Egypt and the United States and promote shared prosperity, according to the statement.

Ambassador Mustafa Garg emphasized the importance of this large trade delegation, saying, "The companies represented on Monday in Alexandria embody the best of American innovation, technology, and expertise. They have a proven track record of delivering transformational solutions in port infrastructure and operations worldwide. This U.S. trade delegation is eager to support Egypt's port development efforts, paving the way for enhanced security, economic growth, and prosperity for both our countries."

She added, "This important event was made possible thanks to our close relationship with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, especially with Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport."

The statement emphasized that the economic relationship between the United States and Egypt is the foundation of regional stability and global trade. In 2024, total goods and services exchanged between the United States and Egypt reached approximately $12.4 billion, a 17.5 percent increase over 2023.

Egypt remains the largest market for the United States in Africa, as evidenced by the presence of more than 1,800 American companies operating in Egypt. These partnerships contribute to job creation, driving innovation, and enhancing security.

By supporting the development of Egyptian ports, American companies will work to secure vital trade routes, enhance the resilience of global supply chains, and expand opportunities for American companies abroad. These efforts contribute to strengthening American economic leadership and creating high-quality jobs within the United States, according to the statement.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is proud to support the dynamic and growing economic partnership between our two countries, a partnership that benefits Egyptians and Americans alike. Together, we are building a foundation for shared prosperity, innovation, and security that will endure for generations to come.
