CAIRO – 26 March 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday, during which they discussed regional developments, including the current situation in the Gaza strip.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that President Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts to achieve a ceasefire, and emphasized Egypt's firm rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.
Both leaders stressed their absolute rejection of the ongoing Israeli military operations in the Strip. They emphasized the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, an end to the Israeli ground incursion into the Strip, and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Spanish Prime Minister affirmed his country's support for the Arab plan to reconstruct the Gaza Strip. He noted his country's complete alignment with Egypt's position rejecting the displacement of Palestinians or the liquidation of the Palestinian cause.
The two sides agreed on the importance of implementing the two-state solution as the sole guarantee for achieving security and stability for the peoples of the Middle East.
The call also addressed the situation in Syria and Lebanon. Both sides emphasized the importance of preserving the stability, unity, and territorial integrity of both countries.
The call highlighted the deep Egyptian-Spanish relations, as well as the remarkable development of these relations. There was emphasis on the interest of the two countries to enhance cooperation in various fields and intensify consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
