CAIRO – 28 October 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, received a phone call on Monday, from Svenja Schulze, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty praised the excellent bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany across various levels, commending Germany's constructive role in supporting development projects in Egypt.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed his keen interest in bolstering the partnership with Germany in various fields, including energy, managed migration and labor mobility, vocational training, and cooperation in Africa.
He also emphasized the potential for greater economic, trade, and investment collaboration, acknowledging the economic reforms undertaken by Egypt to optimize the business environment and attract foreign investment.
Abdelatty further expressed anticipation for the upcoming government-to-government negotiations on development cooperation, underscoring the significance of the Debt Swap Agreements between the two countries, which directly support Egypt's national development efforts. He also commended Germany's support for Egypt within the European Union, referencing the positive outcomes of the recent Egyptian-European Summit held on October 22nd in Brussels.
The two ministers turned their attention to the ongoing arrangements for Egypt’s hosting of the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction during November.
Abdelatty clarified that the conference will represent a vital step toward unifying international efforts to support the Palestinian people, meet their pressing needs, and contribute to the rebuilding process in line with the Arab-Islamic plan and the U.S. President Donald Trump Peace Plan for the Middle East.
The Minister expressed hope for active German participation in the conference as a co-sponsoring party alongside regional and international partners to bring an end to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Strip. He reiterated the urgent necessity for the international community to fulfill its humanitarian and moral duty to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
