Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced on Tuesday adopting the final statement of the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo, and the Egyptian plan for the reconstruction and development of the Gaza Strip.
In his closing speech for the summit, Sisi addressed Arab leaders saying: “at the end of this pivotal summit, I extend to you my sincere thanks and great appreciation for your sincere efforts, vision and valued support,
You have enriched the sincere discussion with valuable interventions that I am confident will undoubtedly contribute to achieving Arab interests, preserving our national security and strengthening joint Arab action in a way that meets the aspirations of our Arab peoples.
We welcome any proposals or ideas from the international community to ensure the success of the reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, which needs to be implemented side by side with a greater plan for peace. I look forward to working with our Arab brothers, President Trump and the international community to adopt a plan that aims for a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian Issue, ends the root causes of the Israeli Palestinian conflict, guarantees the security and stability of the peoples of the region and establishes the Palestinian State.”
President Sisi chaired on Tuesday the Extraordinary Arab Summit, held upon the request of Palestine in the New Administrative Capital to discuss developments of the Palestinian issue and means to support the Palestinian people.
President Sisi said in his opening speech that Egypt, in cooperation with Palestine and international institutions, worked to formulate a ‘comprehensive and integrated plan for Gaza reconstruction without displacing Palestinians’, starting with urgent relief operations, leading to the process of rebuilding the Strip.
President Sisi called upon all countries to adopt the comprehensive plan and mobilize regional and international support for it.
Moreover, he announced that Egypt will be hosting a reconstruction conference next month, calling on all ‘free and friendly countries to contribute to this path, and to participate effectively in the reconstruction conference’ and the Gaza Strip supporting fund expected to be established to help Palestinian families.
The Egyptian President in his speech confirmed the importance of expressing ‘absolute rejection and condemnation’ of the attacks and violations against Palestinian people in West Bank. He also strongly rejected and warned against the consequences of the continued attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He said that “there will be no real peace without the establishment of the Palestinian state, and peace will not come by violence and it cannot be imposed by force.”
“The independent Palestinian state must be established on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while providing all the necessary guarantees at the same time to preserve Israel's security,” Sisi said.
He concluded his speech saying that: “It is time to adopt a serious and effective political path leading to a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. And I am certain that President Trump is capable of doing this, in light of our sincere desire to put an end to the tensions and hostilities in our region.”
