Pres. Sisi reaffirms support for Iraq’s stability, development

CAIRO - 26 February 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Ammar Al-Hakim, the head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, along with his accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed bilateral relation and latest developments in the region.

The meeting, which was also attended by Major General Hassan Rashad, the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, covered the latest developments in Gaza, as both sides stressed the importance of implementing the ceasefire agreement in its various stages, including the exchange of prisoners and detainees and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged strip.

According to a statement by the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, the two sides highlighted the necessity of initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza without the forced displacement of its residents, as such actions would undermine the Palestinian cause and pose serious threats to regional security.
Additionally, They underscored the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only viable path to achieving lasting peace in the region.


Moreover, President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of maintaining Iraq’s security and stability. He reiterated Egypt’s readiness to leverage all available resources to support Iraq’s development efforts and help fulfill the aspirations of the Iraqi people.

For his part, Ammar Al-Hakim expressed his deep appreciation for the historic ties between Egypt and Iraq, as well as the strong relations between their peoples. He commended Egypt’s pivotal role in preserving regional security and stability and acknowledged Egypt’s ongoing support for Iraq across various sectors.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the situation in Syria, with both parties emphasizing the need to preserve Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They stressed the urgency of launching a comprehensive political process that includes all segments of Syrian society, ultimately leading to a new constitution and democratic elections. The importance of ending foreign occupation in Syria was also highlighted.
