CAIRO – 16 February 2025: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi received Sunday Crown Prince of Jordan Hussein Bin Abdullah to discuss the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to an official statement released by the Egyptian presidency.
During the meeting, President Sisi demonstrated the efforts exerted by Egypt to ensure the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the hostage-prisoner swap, as well as deliver humanitarian aid.
The Jordanian crown prince expressed his appreciation for the aforementioned efforts, praising Cairo’s role in stabilizing the ceasefire, ending the bloodshed, and restoring pacification.
Moreover, the two sides reiterated the necessity of an immediate start of Gaza reconstruction process without Palestinians' displacement. In the same context, the crown prince underscored Jordan's support to the emergency Arab summit to be hosted by Egypt on 27 February 2025.
The Egyptian president and the Jordanian crown prince also warned about the current Israeli violence in the West Bank, and attacks against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. They equally noted that the only guarantee to accomplish permanent peace and stability in the Middle East is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 having as capital Eastern Jerusalem.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the status quo of Syria, expressing eagerness for the country's unity, stability and territorial integrity.
