Egypt's Sisi greets Pope Tawadros II marking Coptic Easter Sun, May. 2, 2021
CAIRO - 2 May 2020: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi sent on Saturday a cable to Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese to greet him on Easter.


In his cable, Sisi hailed the good bonds of fraternity and sincere feelings shared by all Egyptians, Muslims and Christians, saying he prays to Allah to protect Egypt and its great people and bless it with happiness and peace for always, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

The president sent a similar cable of greetings to the Egyptian expats abroad, wishing them a happy Easter.

Meanwhile, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb phoned Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese to greet him on the Easter.


During the phone call, El Tayyeb wished all Egyptians to live in stability and security on this occasion, Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church Father Moussa Ibrahim said.

Pope Tawadros II on Thursday urged all Egyptians to abide by COVID-19 precautionary measures announced by the government.

He affirmed that the Church prays to God to end this pandemic in the world, and stressing the necessity of wearing masks, preserve social distancing, eating healthy food, and using sanitizers especially during this holy week of celebrations.
