Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, inaugurated the exhibition "Naguib Mahfouz between the Neighborhood, Job and Friends" at the Hanager Arts Center in the Opera Square, as part of the Ministry of Culture's celebrations of the 111th anniversary of the birth of the Nobel writer.
Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, said: The exhibition "Naguib Mahfouz between Neighborhood, Job and Friends" is the beginning of a month of celebrations for a writer unique in creativity who was able to bring Egyptian and Arabic literature to a global status worthy of the name of Egypt, adding that Naguib Mahfouz is an Egyptian symbol and stature and its value is much greater. To be celebrated through one event, therefore, a large number of events will be organized, including seminars, workshops, and screenings of cinematic works that inspired the spirit of the heroes of his novels.
The Minister of Culture praised the organizational level of the exhibition, and the creative works it contained, which honestly expressed his career full of distinction and giving.
And the Minister of Culture decided that the exhibition would tour many governorates, starting with the New Valley Governorate, which is hosting the Egyptian Writers Conference in its thirty-fifth session.
For his part, the journalist, Tariq Al-Taher, a member of the organizing committee for the celebration, explained that the exhibition comes as a result of the cooperation of a number of sectors of the ministry, foremost of which are the Palaces of Culture and the Cultural Development Fund. The paintings of plastic art are inspired by the worlds of Naguib Mahfouz, and the second part of it contains a number of documents related to the professional life of Naguib Mahfouz since his graduation from the university until he reached the age of retirement, and related to his unique experience working in three ministries, which are the Ministry of Education and Endowments, then the Ministry of National Guidance, while the third part of it includes Dedications of the books of the great intellectuals and thinkers to Naguib Mahfouz
It is noteworthy that the program for the celebration of the 111th anniversary of the birth of Naguib Mahfouz, which lasts for a month, includes, in addition to the exhibition, many activities, including a conference and a meeting entitled “The Descendants of Naguib Mahfouz” at the headquarters of his museum in the “Abu Dahab” hospice in Al-Azhar neighborhood, in which multiple generations of creators participate. In addition to a round table entitled "I am Arno in Rehab Naguib Mahfouz", and an artistic presentation entitled "Naguib Mahfouz's Cinematic Journey... Film Songs", in addition to organizing a number of seminars in all governorates.
