Specialists classify the library of St. Catherine's Monastery as the second most important library in the world, in terms of the value and number of sacred Christian manuscripts, after the Vatican Library.
According to the Information and Decision Support Center, the library has 4,500 manuscripts, two-thirds of which were written in Greek. The library also has an archival reference that contains correspondence from and to the abbots and emperors, as well as archaeological blogs, maps and photos.
