CAIRO - 21 April 2020: Egypt's Planning Minister Hala el Saied said the economic reform program boosted the state's ability to confront the coronavirus crisis and strengthened its economy.

Saied was delivering a speech on Tuesday before the plenary session of the House of the Representatives about the socio-economic plan for 2020-2021

The socio-economic plan aims to maintain the Egyptian economy's strength and support the damaged sectors along with developing policies to make use of the current crisis and turn it to a chance to promote the local industry, the minister pointed out.

The plan includes enhancing investments in governorates and implementing the second phase of Hayah Karima initiative in 14 governorates, she noted.

She added that Egypt's economy achieved remarkable accomplishments in the current fiscal year.
