CAIRO – 6 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah al Sisi commemorated on Monday the 6th of October victory in a televised speech, affirming that this day has brought ‘pride and glory to Egypt and all the Arabs’.
‘It’s the day when the world stood in respect and reverence for the great will of the Egyptians and the unity of Arab decision-making,” he added.
“On this anniversary, we extend our sincere tribute to the spirit of the great late leader Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, the hero of war and peace, the man of bold decisions and insightful vision who led the nation with wisdom and courage toward victory and peace. We salute the leaders of the armed forces, every officer and soldier, and everyone who answered Egypt's call at that pivotal moment in its history. We do not commemorate this anniversary simply to celebrate, but to draw lessons and morals from it,’ the President said.
He added that the October War taught us that victory is not granted, but taken away. ‘And that meticulous planning, dedicated and diligent work, coordination between state institutions, a cohesive internal front, and a belief in God's victory are the keys to victory and glory.
With this certainty, Egypt triumphed and will remain victorious, God willing, until the Day of Judgment.’
The Egyptian President emphasized that ‘from the spirit of October, we draw our resolve today to build a new, modern Egypt worthy of its stature and history, deserving of being among the great powers. We are working diligently and sincerely to build a strong, modern, and advanced state that expresses Egypt's true weight and value in a world that only recognizes the strong. This will enable Egypt to become a pioneer, advanced, and influential country.
He added that today, in light of the successive crises our region is experiencing, we are ‘in dire need of the principles that led us to the October 1973 victory’ and of applying them as a solid approach. Because the circumstances we live in require us to live up to the responsibility.
Sisi noted that ‘Egypt and Israel fought fierce wars and military conflicts, in which both sides paid a heavy price in blood and destruction.
“The hostility would have continued had it not been for the foresight of President Sadat, the wisdom of the Israeli leadership at the time, and American mediation, which paved the way for a just and courageous peace that ended the cycle of revenge, shattered the wall of hostility, and opened a new page in history,” President Sisi said
He added that for “peace to endure, it must be built on the foundations of justice, not imposed.”
He explained that the ‘Egyptian experience of peace with Israel was not merely an agreement, but rather the foundation of a just peace that consolidated stability and proved that fairness is the only path to lasting peace. It has become a historic model for peacemaking.’
From this perspective, we believe that peace in the Middle East will only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy and in a way that restores rights to their rightful owners, Sisi said
‘Peace imposed on people only breeds resentment, while peace built on justice generates true coexistence among peoples.’
In his speech, President Sisi extended his greetings and appreciation to US President Donald Trump for his initiative seeking to end the war in the Gaza Strip after two years of war, genocide, killing, and destruction.
He said that “a ceasefire, the return of prisoners and detainees, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the beginning of a peaceful political process leading to the establishment and recognition of a Palestinian state mean that we are on the right path toward lasting peace and solid stability,”
‘Reconciliation, not confrontation, is the only way to build a secure future for our children.’
Egypt’s President emphasized the importance of preserving the peace system established by the United States since the 1970s, which has served as a strategic framework for regional stability.
He said that expanding the scope of this system will only be possible by strengthening its pillars, based on justice, guaranteeing the rights of the region's peoples to life, and cooperation that ends conflicts and unleashes the potential for integration, prosperity, and progress throughout the region.
President Sisi concluded his speech assuring that the Egyptian Army is committed to its mission of protecting its country and preserving its borders, and is unafraid of challenges.
‘It is a national army, born from the heart of this great people and its sons, carry their lives in their hands and stand like an impregnable dam in the face of all difficulties and threats,’
I renew my greetings to our valiant armed forces, to our righteous martyrs who watered the homeland with their pure blood, and to our heroic soldiers who stay up late so that Egypt may sleep safe and secure, Sisi added.
