CAIRO – 23 September 2025: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Tuesday Egypt’s readiness to host an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza as soon as a ceasefire is reached, with the aim of mobilizing the necessary funding for the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan in coordination with the Palestinian government.
This came during the premier’s participation in the International Conference on a Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and the Two-State Solution, where he delivered a strong message, stating that there can be no stability in the Middle East without a just and comprehensive solution that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Speaking on behalf of Egypt, a nation that has led peace efforts for over 40 years, Madbouly stressed that the two-state solution is not merely a political option or a moral obligation but an absolute security necessity. He warned that ignoring Palestinian rights will only lead to more escalation and instability, while the lack of a political horizon will open the door to further violence and extremism.
The Prime Minister reiterated Egypt’s full condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Palestinian territories and its recent attack on Qatar, a country that, like Egypt, is heavily involved in mediation efforts to end the conflict in Gaza.
Madbouly pointed out that the adoption of the New York Declaration by the UN General Assembly represents a historic moment, renewing the international community's commitment to the right of the Palestinian people to an independent state. He called on all countries that have not yet done so to grant immediate and unconditional recognition to the State of Palestine.
He emphasized that Egypt remains committed to all efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, believing that ending the bloodshed is both possible and necessary. Reiterating Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people, which he described as a crime of ethnic cleansing.
Moreover, he highlighted the recent report by the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry, which "rings the alarm bell for every human conscience" by concluding that Israel has committed the crime of genocide against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
He concluded his speech by declaring that the time has come for the international community to fulfill its responsibility and turn the two-state solution into a tangible reality, urging all partners to contribute to these efforts for early recovery and reconstruction.
