CAIRO - 24 September 2019: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez have agreed on exchanging security information and intensify cooperation regarding countering terrorism and extremist ideologies, according to to statements onTuesday by presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady.
During their meeting on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), they discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially fighting terrorism and extremist ideologies.
Sisi also praised the relations between the two countries, and expressed Egypt's aspiration to continue upgrading those relations and activating the frameworks of joint cooperation at all levels.
For his part, Sánchez expressed his country's appreciation for the “friendly and cooperative” relations between the two countries, saying that Spain is keen on boosting and enhancing relations with Egypt in different fields, along with supporting the Egyptian economic efforts for developments.
Sánchez also said that his country is eager to continue discussions on ways of enhancing stability in the Middle East as part of Egypt's key role as an essential pillar of stability and security in the region.
