CAIRO - 25 September 2019: During an event held in New York, Egypt's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ahmed Hafez, strongly slammed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's allegations about Egypt.
Hafez said that Erdogan’s baseless allegations pretend to defend justice values while in reality, they express hatred of the Egyptian people who have nothing but respect for the Turkish nation, according to a statement issued by the foreign ministry,
Hafez pointed out that Erdogan’s statements sounded ironic in the light of his sponsorship of terrorism in the region and his continued violations against the rights of the Turkish people on the flimsy pretext of fake justice and alleged freedom.
The spokesperson condemned Erdogan’s remarks as a desperate attempt to divert attention away from his regime’s deteriorated popularity and his latest domestic and international defeats.
The following facts represent undisputed evidence of Erdogan’s allegations absurdity, as the violations committed by his regime are not hidden anymore, noted Hafez.
1-There are more than 75,000 opinion and political prisoners in Turkey who include civilian and military people, this is why Turkey is witnessing a surge in building prisons.
2-Scores prisoners died due to dubious circumstances, torture, and illness as a result of the maltreatment inside Turkish prisons.
3-More than 130,000 government employees were arbitrarily fired.
4-Thousands of academics were fired and more than 3000 universities, schools, and educational institutions were closed.
5-Turkey has become one of the leading nations when it comes to oppressing and jailing journalists and media men, according to international reports.
6- Scores of Turkish people has fled their country due to the oppressive campaigns
The statement mentioned Erdogan’s sponsorship of terrorism in the different countries in the region such as Syria, and how he turned his country into a haven for extremist and outlawed terrorist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.
The spokesperson noted how Erdogan’s regime has provided the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood with political support and media platforms which the group used to promote their destructive ideas in Egypt and the whole region.
