Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty hosted a meeting of four regional countries at the Egyptian mission in New York, bringing together Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of their participation in the high-level segment of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Abdelatty stressed the need to intensify efforts to reduce tensions across the region and emphasized the importance of ensuring full and safe freedom of navigation.
He described secure maritime navigation as a key pillar of global economic stability and the safety of international trade routes.
The ministers also discussed efforts to reach a sustainable understanding that could support regional security and stability and prevent further escalation and tensions.
The four officials agreed to maintain close consultations and coordination on regional issues of common interest and support efforts aimed at strengthening security, stability and peace across the region.
