CAIRO – 6 October 2025: Ahead of the 52nd anniversary of the glorious 6th of October war Victory, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces on Sunday at the Egyptian Military Entity (El Kayan) in the New Administrative Capital.
Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, opened the meeting by extending his congratulations to the great Egyptian people and to the valiant members of the Armed Forces on this historic occasion.
The president lauded the Armed Forces for their ongoing efforts to uphold the pillars of security and stability across all strategic directions.
The meeting discussed several issues in light of the changes taking place on the regional and international scenes and their relevance to Egypt’s national security.
General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, offered an overview of several topics related to the Armed Forces’ missions to safeguard Egypt’s borders.
He also underlined the Armed Forces’ cooperation with ministries and state institutions to support the implementation of Egypt’s sustainable development plans across all sectors.
Sisi leveraged the meeting to pay tribute to the souls of Egypt’s martyrs, affirming that the spirit of the October Victory will remain deeply rooted in the nation’s collective consciousness for generations to come.
He emphasized that the prosperity Egypt enjoys today would not have been possible without the sacrifices of the heroes of the 6th of October crossing epic, who embodied the highest values of selflessness for the sake of the nation’s pride and dignity.
The October 1973 Victory, in which Egyptian forces crossed the Suez Canal and reclaimed Sinai territories occupied by Israel since 1967, remains a defining moment in Egypt’s modern history.
The triumph restored national pride, reshaped regional dynamics, and demonstrated the resilience and unity of the Egyptian people. The anniversary continues to symbolize courage, sacrifice, and the enduring commitment to defending Egypt’s sovereignty and dignity.
Marking the day, Sisi visited the Memorial of the Armed Forces’ Martyrs on Sunday morning and laid wreaths at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the tomb of late President Mohamed Anwar El Sadat, and the mausoleum of late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
