CAIRO - 4 June 2025: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from the President of the European Counil, António Costa on Tuesday.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, revealed that the call emphasized the importance of continuing coordination between Egypt and the European Union on various regional and international issues.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and intensify efforts to implement all aspects of the comprehensive strategic partnership, therefore strengthening bilateral relations across the political, economic, cultural, and scientific fields.
The call tackled regional developments of mutual interest, mainly the situation in the Gaza Strip.
President Sisi reviewed Egypt's continued efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement and exchange prisoners and hostages, stressing the need for concerted international efforts to press for an immediate end to the war and ensure the safe and unhindered entry of humanitarian aid to address the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
The call emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state, being the only path to achieving lasting peace in the region.
Both leaders affirmed the importance of the peace settlement conference and the implementation of the two-state solution, to be held in New York in June, and intensified recognition of the Palestinian state.
They also reiterated the rejection of attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace Palestinians from their lands. For his part, the President of the European Council expressed the European Union's support for Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the region, stressing that Egypt represents a fundamental cornerstone of its stability.
