CAIRO – 21 May 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday.
According to the Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President Sisi welcomed during the call the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, stressing the importance of preserving and sustaining it and the need to find lasting political solutions to the crisis between the two countries to ensure the security and stability of the South Asian region.
The Pakistani prime minister thanked President Sisi for the efforts exerted by Egypt and other countries to de-escalate the tension between India and Pakistan and appreciated the President's keenness to support regional and international peace and security.
The call touched on ways to strengthen relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment fields.
Both sides affirmed their interest to explore broader prospects for cooperation based on the close historical relations they share. They also emphasized the importance of joint action to combat terrorism and extremism, in line with the active roles both countries play in their regions.
The call also addressed regional issues, most notably the aggression on Gaza. Both sides emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid.
