CAIRO - 23 April 2025: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty called on the international community on Tuesday to put an end to what he described as the "arrogance of power" that has led to a state of despair in the region and the world.
In a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Youssef Raji in Cairo, Abdel-Atty explained that Egyptian contacts with all relevant and international parties are ongoing with the aim of halting all forms of violations of Arab states' sovereignty, as well as "stopping all acts of killing and terror practiced by Israel through these aggressive policies."
He pointed out that "there is a state of despair among public opinion in the region and the entire world, due to one party's delusion that the arrogance of power can achieve security, peace, and stability."
He highlighted that "international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and all multilateral rules and frameworks are at stake, because one country is imposing its will and vision and violating the sovereignty of other countries”.
He stated that "international law and state sovereignty must be respected, double standards must be avoided, and the international community must impose its will in this regard."
Abdel-Atty affirmed Egypt's full condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, emphasizing Egypt's rejection of any infringement on Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He emphasized the need to implement the cessation of hostilities agreement, the immediate and undiminished withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, and the implementation of Resolution 1701 by all parties, in a manner that preserves Lebanon's sovereignty and stability.
Regarding Syria, the Egyptian minister said "Under no circumstances can we accept this disregard by Israel for the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, its violation and transgression, its occupation and annexation of more Syrian territory, and its violation of Syrian national soil."
