Egypt, Kuwait agree on strengthening economic, investment, trade relations

CAIRO – 16 April 2025: Egypt and Kuwait have agreed to advance bilateral economic, investment, and trade relations in a joint statement issued shortly after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi visit to Kuwait, the second stop of his Gulf tour.

The Kuwaiti side expressed its keen intention to invest in Egyptian economy and benefit from numerous investment opportunities in Egypt, particularly in the fields of energy, agriculture, industry, information technology, real estate development, banking, and the pharmaceutical industry.

According to the statement, The Kuwaiti emir held a bilateral session of talks with President Sisi, preceded by an expanded meeting comprising members of the two countries’ official delegations. The meeting witnessed an in-depth discussion of relations between the two countries, and mutual appreciation for the strength of those close relations at various official and popular levels.

The two sides discussed various aspects of joint cooperation in the economic, investment, trade, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, culture, and tourism sectors. They praised the current progress seen in those sectors and the steady growth in economic and trade relations.

They affirmed their determination to strengthen trade and investment relations in the coming period in a way that helps them achieve their common interests, while assigning officials in both countries to take the necessary steps to that end.

The two sides were also informed of the outcomes of the Kuwaiti-Egyptian Joint Committee meetings, held in September 2024 in Cairo as well as ongoing preparations for the 14th session of the joint committee.

The Egyptian side commended the renaissance witnessed by the State of Kuwait at all levels with a view to realizing Kuwait Vision 2035.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti side praised the unprecedented development Egypt has been witnessing under the leadership of President Sisi, the efforts made to improve the investment climate in accordance with Egypt Vision 2030, in addition to the diligent work carried out to remove any obstacles facing Kuwaiti investors in Egypt.

The Kuwaiti emir welcomed ongoing preparations for Cairo's hosting of the Gulf-Egypt Investment Forum this year. He confirmed Kuwait's determination to effectively participate in the event in a way that helps achieve the common interests of Egypt and the Gulf region.

The two sides commended mutual support in various international forums, citing Kuwait's endorsement of the nomination of Dr. Khaled el Anani for the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the 2025-2029 term.

They also praised close coordination on regional and international issues of common interest, emphasizing the need to promote the culture of peace, dialogue, and diplomatic settlement of disputes in the Middle East region with a view to achieving development and peaceful coexistence among the region's countries.
