Egyptian, French Presidents discuss bilateral ties, situation in Gaza

CAIRO - 6 April 2025: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call on Saturday from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

The Official Spokesperson for the Presidency stated in an official statement revealed that the call comes as a part of preparations for the French President's upcoming visit to Egypt.

Discussions focused on the most important cooperation topics raised during the visit and prospects for strengthening them in line with the interests of the two friendly countries, including the possibility of holding a tripartite Egyptian-French-Jordanian summit in Cairo during the French President's visit to Egypt.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the Official Spokesperson, added that the call addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, where Egyptian efforts to achieve a ceasefire were reviewed.

The two presidents emphasized the importance of restoring calm through an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid. They also emphasized the importance of the two-state solution as the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.

President Macron plans to travel to Egypt on Sunday, where he is expected to visit the city of El-Arish, near the Gaza Strip in order to emphasize the need for a ceasefire and continuation of aid delivery to the residents of the enclave.
