Egypt finishes Middle East's largest metro maintenance workshop Tue, Apr. 12, 2022
CAIRO – 12 April 2022: Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels has established the maintenance workshop of Metro Line 3 trains, the largest of its kind in the Middle East.

It is located at the Huckstep station of Metro Line 3, near Cairo International Airport. Below is some information about the workshop:

1 – It occupies 56 feddans.

2 – It includes 32 buildings.

3 – Heavy and lightweight overhauls, painting, and renovating the trains are all conducted in the workshop.

4 – It can accommodate up to 30 trains to be maintained.

5 – It is the second workshop for maintaining the trains of Metro Line 3. The first is the Abbasiya workshop.

6 – Metro Line 3 connects eastern and western Greater Cairo. After completion, its length will have been 41.2 kilometers with 34 stops.

7 – Three phases of Metro Line 3 are operating at a length of 23.5 kilometers with 19 stops. The final phase is underway at a length of 17.7 kilometers and 15 stops.

8 – The fourth phase of Metro Line 3 has already claimed the U.S. Engineering News Record Magazine’s award as the world’s best transport and railway project in 2021.
