Min of Culture participates in the closing meetings of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Board of Trustees

Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, participated today, Monday, in the second and final session of the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina at the library’s headquarters in Alexandria, one day after the session that was held in Cairo under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, during which he appreciated the efforts of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Alexandria to spread science and knowledge, which are integrated with the state's endeavors in this context to build bridges between nations and civilizations, and to affirm the concepts of pluralism, peace, dialogue and understanding, and respect for the cultures of all peoples.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Board of Trustees extended its thanks and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his constant keenness to attend the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees, and the unlimited support he provides to the library, believing in its status and role in producing knowledge and consolidating the values of science and culture.

The Board of Trustees listened to its new composition, which includes a group of prominent international personalities and a number of senior Egyptian and foreign scholars and thinkers, including Dr. Magdi Yaqoub, Dr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, former Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Mr. Miguel Moratinos, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and High Representative of the Alliance of Nations. United Civilizations, Dr. Moufid Shehab, Mr. Mohamed bin Issa, former Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Culture, Sheikha Mai bint Mohamed Al Khalifa, former President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Engineer Hani Azar, Ms. Amina Mohamed, former Kenyan Minister of Culture, and Ms. Samia Nkrumah, former President of the Popular Congress Party In Ghana, and the writer Mohamed Salmawy, to a comprehensive report from Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, during which he reviewed his vision for the development of work in the library and its future plans in line with the developments of the times.

The council also approved a set of proposals that will contribute to strengthening the role and mission of the library in its Arab, African, Middle Eastern and international environment, within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during which he stressed the importance of continuous renewal in the frameworks and methods of the library’s work, and its support for new research programs and educational patterns. Innovative, as well as stimulating youth capabilities and developing their creative skills, while working to generalize the role of the library in this regard, to include supporting creativity and innovation at the national, regional, and global levels. After the meeting, the members of the Board of Trustees conducted an inspection tour inside the library.
