CAIRO – 5 May 2025: Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, received on Monday, the Argentine Ambassador to Cairo Holger Martinsen, both sides held extensive discussions focused on strengthening cooperation.
Lieutenant General Rabie expressed his appreciation for the bilateral relations between the two countries. He conveyed hope for the success of joint efforts aimed at enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in various fields, particularly in the economic field.
Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority emphasized the Authority's commitment to strengthening ties and joint relationships with all its clients and activating its role in supporting global supply chains despite the current challenges in the Red Sea region.
Lieutenant General Rabie explained that the Authority seeks to open up to the outside world and expand its work base in cooperation with successful partners in the fields and activities related to providing various logistics and maritime services.
The Chairman of the Authority pointed to the accumulated expertise of the Authority's subsidiaries and shipyards in the field of maintenance and construction of various marine units, using the latest global technology.
He also noted the Authority's extensive experience and qualified personnel in dredging and engineering works on waterways and rivers.
For his part, Ambassador Holger Martinsen, the Argentine Ambassador to Cairo, expressed his gratitude for the close relations between Egypt and Argentina at the diplomatic and popular levels.
The Argentine Ambassador emphasized the strategic importance of the Suez Canal to the international maritime community, making it the world's most important waterway and indispensable for global trade.
Martinsen expressed hope that daily navigation rates through the Canal would return to their previous levels, noting in this regard the pressure placed on global supply chains by transiting via the Cape of Good Hope, given the delays in the arrival of goods.
The Argentine ambassador expressed his aspiration to maximize the benefits of cooperation and communication with the Suez Canal Authority through the exchange of expertise in several fields, including dredging and maritime industries, in which the Suez Canal Authority has extensive experience.
He also raised the possibility of benefiting from the advanced systems Argentina offers for early response to maritime emergencies, which would increase the safety of ships and various maritime units.
