In this documentary we will discover the real Cleopatra, a figure whose name and legacy is burned into the minds of billions.

Coming from a tenacious Greek Macedonian family, she had to fight and even kill for her place on the throne, a noble attempt to save a failing Egypt.

She left her mark during the final days of ancient egypt.

So much already has been written about Cleopatra, one of the most famous Egyptian queens and indeed and one of the most famous historical persons of all time.

Countless books, paintings, plays (including one by Shakespeare) and movies have been made depicting her life as ruler and her tragic love affair with Roman politician Mark Antony.

Born in 69 BCE, Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator was bred to be a ruler, having come from a long line of royalty.

Outlasting her two older sisters to succeed her father as ruler of Egypt's Ptolemaic Empire.

The reign of Cleopatra of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt began with the death of her father, Ptolemy XII Auletes, by March 51 BC and ended with her tragic suicide in August 30 BC,which also marked the end of the Hellenistic period and the annexation of Egypt into a Roman province.

Like her Greek predecessors, Cleopatra reigned over Egypt and other territories as an absolute monarch, although the Roman Republic frequently interfered in its internal affairs.

Her personal rule of Egypt was characterized by a continued reliance on agriculture, extensive trade and conflict with other states, the tackling of corruption, strategic management of the bureaucracy, and ambitious building projects.
Her story has been warped so much through out history, from biast opinions to praise, yet who was she really? Everyone thinks they know her, everyone has a different opinion, but most of those are modern, based on films and misinformed play-writes. How much do we really know about the true Cleopatra.
