CAIRO – 9 July 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr abdelatty and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas affirmed in a phone call on Tuesday the importance of consolidating the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel.
During the call, the two diplomats stressed the necessity of calming the situation in the region, and working to resume negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.
The Foreign Minister exchanged views with the European official on the important role of the E3 group in supporting the negotiating process to reach a settlement that addresses all concerns and contributes to de-escalation in the region.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the shed light on developments in the Gaza Strip.
Minister abdelatty briefed the European official on the latest developments regarding the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and the release of a number of hostages and prisoners. He reviewed Egypt's efforts in cooperation with Qatar and the United States in this regard, stressing the need to intensify international efforts to achieve a ceasefire, ensure its sustainability, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid.
For her part, the European official briefed the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the European Union's position on the developments in Gaza, particularly regarding the seriousness of the humanitarian situation there, stressing the need to resume UN humanitarian aid mechanisms to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
